What is the South Funen Archipelago Geopark?

The South Funen Archipelago is one of the world's largest flooded ice age landscapes. UNESCO Global Geopark The South Funen Archipelago tells the story of a dramatic rise in sea levels at the end of the last ice age and how the ice created a unique landscape that has defined the area's nature and culture for 10,000 years.

The geopark covers a large area of both land and water with many local stories and experiences, and is therefore not a park with a main entrance.

The South Funen Archipelago itself stretches from Helnæs in the west to the east coast of Langeland, bordered by Ærø in the south and the south Funen coast in the north. However, the mainland part of the municipalities of Faaborg-Midtfyn and Svendborg is also part of the geopark. Read more about UNESCO Global Geopark The South Funen Archipelago.
